Join us for a rejuvenating afternoon of Stretch+Sound!

This 90-minute workshop combines a deeply restorative 45-minute stretch and release class, followed by a 45-minute sound bath meditation session led by Kate Stewart. Kate uses crystal bowls which produce powerful tones that resonate deep within the body. The sound touches our bodies on a molecular and crystalline level creating a deep relaxed or meditative state, helping to relieve stress and anxiety while cleaning the mind.

We asked Kate 10 quick fire questions in order to find out what inspires her, what keeps her feeling balanced and even share her guilty pleasure!

What is your life mantra?

Be brave, be bold and don’t hold yourself back from following your dreams. Go on as many adventures as possible. You only live once!

What do you do to feel strong in your body?

I like to practise a mix of disciplines. I practise kundalini first thing in the morning, then mix my week up between vinyasa yoga, reformer pilates and spinning. Staying active helps me to clear my mind and start each day on a high; strength and body image for me come secondary to having a strong healthy mind.

How did you find your first Barrecore class?

I attended the Barrecore Signature class and it was an amazing full body workout, targeting all those smaller muscles you never knew you had!

Talk us through your typical day?

I wake up around 7am and start my day with a kundalini yoga & meditation practice. Then it’s time for coffee, poached eggs and smashed avocado for breakfast (my favourite meal of the day). I’m usually on my laptop by 9am organising our future courses, workshops & events and supporting our students who’ve already learnt with us. I’m always playing playlists I’ve put together on Spotify loudly to keep me going throughout the day and try and pop out for a class at lunchtime if I can. Evenings, if I’m not running an event of my own, are spent hanging with friends or going to an ecstatic dance event or drumming circle. There’s such an amazing alternative scene happening in London right now.

What was your journey to becoming a sound healer?

I was working as freelancer project manager with various clients in the wellbeing world and one of my clients was Sound Practitioner Carly Grace. After working with Carly for over 2yrs I learnt a lot about sound healing, also experiencing the benefits first hand from attending her Sound Baths. Over time I started to play the bowls myself and took part in Yantara Jiro’s Sound Medicine trainings. It’s something I love to share with others as I can see the positive effects the bowls have on people.

Can you tell us about another woman who has inspired you?

I was recently introduced to Brené Brown’s TED Talks, she has an amazingly inspiring talk called ‘The power of vulnerability’ and it resonated with me so much.

What achievement are you most proud of?

One of my greatest achievements was probably running the London marathon after doctors told me not to run again after a serious skiing injury.

What do you do in order to relax?

I’m not that great at ‘slowing down’ however playing the Alchemy bowls always relaxes me. Or going for a walk in nature amongst the trees really grounds & calms me.

Favourite healthy snack and your guilty pleasure?

Favourite healthy snack is apple slices smothered in crunchy peanut butter (does that count as healthy..?). My guilty pleasure is always hunting for the best chocolate brownies, the gooier the better!

And finally, any tips for those looking to work in wellness?

I totally recommend taking the leap to follow your dream/s, it’s not something you’ll ever regret. However try not to put all your eggs in one basket (I say this from experience). Maybe make the transition by doing something else alongside your new business until it builds up. This will put less pressure on you to make money straight away and bring in a regular income in on the side.
