International Women’s Day (IWD) is a world wide celebration in order to commemorate women’s achievements and raise awareness of the ongoing push for gender parity.
With 98% of our clientele being female, here at Barrecore we’re always feeling empowered and inspired by women’s achievements. We want to encourage a strong body and a strong mind. We know that all our Barrecore warriors can achieve great things with your bodies and minds, especially when you push yourself and work together. We hope that, this week in particular, you come into Studio feeling mightier than ever.
“Well behaved women rarely make history" - Eleanor Roosevelt
"I raise up my voice—not so I can shout, but so that those without a voice can be heard...we cannot succeed when half of us are held back." - Malala Yousafzai
"I see my body as an instrument, rather than an ornament" - Alanis Morissette
“Feminism is for everybody" - Bell Hooks
“You sort of start thinking anything's possible if you've got enough nerve.” - JK Rowling
“Since I don’t look like every other girl, it takes a while to be okay with that. To be different. But different is good.” - Serena Williams
#PressforProgress - this year’s campaign theme is to encourage people to remain motivated and take action so that the wait isn’t quite the predicted 170 years. With campaigns such as #MeToo and #TimesUp there is currently strong momentum and the foundations for 2018 to be the year of change. Hopefully, the #PressforProgress will maintain and encourage that.
The International Women’s Day website has a number of ways you can #PressforProgress - follow the link for some inspo.
