What is The Barrecore Method?
Our unique Barrecore Method is proven to safely sculpt your entire body in just a few weeks.
Using a ballet barre, your own body weight and our unique combination of high repetition isometric exercises and restorative stretches, your body quickly transforms.
A lot of our clients report the first thing they notice is a perkier bum and a flatter tummy. In the long-term, Barrecore lengthens your muscles to give you that much-desired dancers aesthetic. Longer, leaner muscles is one of the most noticeable changes. Barrecore helps tuck everything in and tones you in all those hard-to-reach places.
Our method is suitable to all fitness levels and even injured, pre-natal or post-natal clients due to its low impact nature. This means no jumping - instead we focus on exhausting your muscles with intelligent movements that bring your body into a "shake". Shaking legs, abs and arms shows that you're working the right muscles and hard. The more you shake the more calories you burn, so it’s important to hold the positions for as long as you can and well and truly embrace the shake.
Our classes are tough - but you feel the burn in a different way than you would in a sweaty spinning or bootcamp session. In fact, you’re probably not going to experience a whole lot of sweating during your Barrecore class at all - so it's easy to squeeze in a class before work or in your lunch break.
Build Not Just A Stronger Body, But Also A Stronger Mind
The isometric movements we use in Barrecore are so small that they bring a new level of awareness to the body that you wouldn't get in a regular strength workout.
Muscles which you may not even know you have are activated and used in Barrecore classes, strengthening your mind-body connection as you workout. Our teachers use very visual descriptions when explaining an exercise, such as 'imagine you're carrying a tray of champagne glasses on your back, it needs to be as flat as possible so do a tiny tuck of your pelvis", making you very aware of the shape of your spine and your alignment.
Barrecore, like all exercise, releases chemicals called endorphins. The endorphins then interact with the receptors in your brain that reduce your perception of pain and trigger a positive feeling in the body, similar to that of morphine. This is why we often refer to the euphoric feeling you feel after a workout is called a ‘runner's high.'
Try 3 Classes For 2 - Or A Whole Month Unlimited
Our classes begin with a fast-paced warm-up followed by full-body barre and floor work incorporating various props and weights, and ends with stretches and a final relaxation. Keep your movements in class as small as possible - they should hardly be visible. This will work deeper in the your muscles and target areas you have probably never worked before! And don't forget to smile! It will make everything seem better and feel like less effort. Plus you'll release endorphins and serotonin!
Our teachers are on hand to guide you through every step so don't be nervous - you'll do great!
The Structure Of A Barrecore Class
The first part of your class is always the warm up, which engages your mind with every major muscle group, increases your heart rate and helps you to start focusing on your breath.
We then move into working your thighs. This gets your heart rate up further, and pushed you straight into the calorie burning zone. As tough as it may be, don’t give up! When your quads are strong and lean, your body will burn calories around the clock and not just when you’re working out.
Next is the seat section which focuses on your glutes, hamstrings and back body and will often include inner and outer thigh work too. A "lifted seat" or "perkier bum" is one of the first things our clients notice after being at the barre regularly.
Our abdominal section is a killer - but if you give it your all, you’ll see results fast. Not only does a flat tummy look great, but having a strong core provides a sturdy support for your body, improves your posture and pulls in your waistline. Strengthening your core will also help with the flexibility, mobility and general health of your spine.
The savasana at the end of class gives you time to rejuvenate the body, mind and spirit. The breath deepens, and the stress of the day and all the hard work you put in throughout class is released. It gives you a chance to reflect on your workout, think about areas of improvement and it’s the time to have one last stretch of the body.
Throughout and at the end of class you will also be stretching, which helps lengthen the tissue, giving you that much desired long, lean look. Stretching also improves your range of motion and flexibility. The more you stretch, the more flexible you’ll become and the smoother and larger your barre movements will be. Stretching also wards off soreness after a tough Barrecore workout. That’s why it’s so important to stay until the end of the class and reap the benefits of a good stretch.
Isometric contractions, eccentric contractions, active stretching and "The Shake" - all the things that sculpt your body fast!
An "isometric contraction" is one where neither the joint angle nor the length of the muscle changes during muscular contraction. It’s difficult to visualise but this static point is the sweet spot of calorie burning. The more you contract the muscle and hold it there, the more calories you will burn as it’s that stillness we so often speak of, that produces results. A study by The Journal For Applied Research proved that doing isometric exercise for 6 minutes would be the equivalent muscle work of 30-35 minutes of gym work on commercial weight-lifting equipment!
An "eccentric contraction" is the lengthening phase of the contraction. By lengthening a muscle, we effectively work the muscles to fatigue and create that long, lean look. The two contractions, isometric and eccentric, working against each other, lengthen and sculpt the muscle.
We use "active stretches", where you would normally rest in a HIIT workout.
When your body gets into "the shake" - and starts shaking throughout your workout - it means you’ve hit that sweet spot! Your muscles are tearing (don’t panic, these are tiny, microscopic tears) and then more muscle fibres are created as these little tears heal to create toned, lean muscles.
Our teachers will explain each move as well as where you should be feeling muscle burn, and give hands on adjustments throughout class to ensure you’re getting the most out of every exercise. Technique is key in barre fitness so getting correct positioning from the start will help your confidence, progression and ultimately ensure you see quicker results.
Our Teachers Go Through 200 Hours Of Training
All Barrecore classes are led by our expert teachers who undergo a minimum of 200 hours of intensive barre training over a two and a half month training period - before being formally tested and qualifying.
They Are There To Help You Find The Right Technique
Our teachers give hands on adjustments throughout class to ensure you’re getting the most out of every exercise. They also provide detailed education relating to the moves being undertaken and the benefits of those on the body, as well as explaining where you should be feeling muscle burn. Technique is key in barre fitness so getting correct positioning from the start will help your confidence, progression and ultimately ensure you see quicker results.
They Will Help You Modify Each Movement For Higher Or Lower Intensity
Modifications are given for every exercise, so you can choose whether to take a less strenuous or more advanced route. Should you have any concerns or questions, teachers are always happy to chat before or after class, just ask.

What is Barrecore?
Barrecore is a series of movements designed to stretch every muscle group in the body. Using a ballet barre, your own body weight and isometric exercises, your muscles quickly transform, becoming longer, stronger, leaner and more flexible.
How many times a week should I come?
4 times a week is the magic number to see quick results in your body. Those that increase their sessions per week from 3 to 4 days have a 50% increase in their results. The increase from 4 to 5 days a week results in only a 10% uplift, and may end up stressing the body. If 4 days a week is too much for you, then try and come regularly once or twice a week. We have various membership packages to suit your desired frequency.
How soon will I see results?
Most of our clients will see and feel results after 8 to 10 classes. Frequency of attendance plays a big part in how quickly you produce results.
Once I've reach my goal, how do I maintain results?
Attending class 2-3 times per week is the perfect amount for maintenance and overall cardiovascular health, strength and conditioning. The beauty of Barrecore workouts is that they are always changing and confusing the muscles. When muscles are ‘confused’ they have to work harder and more calories are burned. The key to continued benefit from Barrecore is to keep finding the shake and burn throughout class. Always push past your limits and you will not plateau until you are the leanest and strongest you can be for your body type. Need help maintaining the habit?
Do I need to do cardio exercise as well as Barrecore?
No, you don't. Barrecore classes are resistance exercises mixed with low impact cardio bursts called interval training. Interval training is a very healthy form of cardiovascular training and is great at melting fat. If you want more cardio try our BarreSWEAT class.
Will I lose weight?
Most of our clients lose inches in just 8 to 10 classes. We use a programme of resistance exercises, so you will build lean muscles. The more muscle you have, instead of fat, the more calories you will burn. Lean muscle takes up 20% less space in your body per pound than fat does.
Will I gain weight?
We don’t believe in weighing ourselves, and generally encourage our clients not to use scales. Muscle weighs more than fat, so whilst this lean muscle takes up less space in your body per pound than fat does, the scale may go up as your body fat goes down! Don’t worry, you will look leaner.
Will I plateau?
No, the beauty of Barrecore workouts is that they are always changing and confusing the muscles, as two classes are never the same. When muscles are ‘confused’ they have to work harder and more calories are burned. The key is to continue to find the shake and burn throughout class. Always push your limits and you will not plateau until you are at your leanest and strongest for your body type. When you have been attending class for a while, your body finds a way to connect to the muscles on a deeper level, which then makes each set more intense right from the beginning. Increased understanding of the Barrecore Method leads to a deeper burn-out in the muscles, making each section of the class a whole body exercise and not solely focused on one body part (e.g. thighs).
I'm injured, can I still come to class?
Yes! Barrecore classes are low impact and our teachers will constantly give modifications throughout class to help clients that may be injured or deconditioned. Private Barre sessions will give you an idea of what to expect in class and can provide you with multiple options to support recovery and strengthen the area of your injury.
Why was I not allowed late entry into class?
For health and safety reasons we cannot allow late access to class. It's important that you participate in the warmup part of our class, to avoid injuries. Clients who don't turn up in time for the class, may therefor be denied access to the class.
Is there an age limit?
Yes, we don't allow people under the age of 16 to use the studio rooms or attend classes.
